Alhamdulilah there has been a good interest this year for camp. We hope all of you are able to attend inshAllah.

Please note the following:

** Attendance of participants to the camp depends solely upon their receiving of acceptance letters. Please download, fill out and mail the application forms WITH THE REQUIRED FEE.**

This means that unfortunatly no last minute forms will be accepted as there wont be enough time to process your application.

Senior Camp 08 + Classes

Salamualaikum one and all...

Sorry for the quite period but a lot of planning is going on in the background. InshaAllah classes start at coburg masjid from Friday the 22nd of Feb, at 7.30pm. The first Tuesday night class will be starting on Tuesday the 11th of March, and inshaAllah there will be a monday night Quran class for brothers and sisters commencing this year around the same time.... more details to come....

As for the main event... Senior camp 08 will be held between March 20 and 25th at the same place as always... Jungai... Please dont hesitate to contact th sisters mentioned on the poster (which can be found in the Senior Camp 08 - Rewind photo album). More information, such as camp forms etc... to come, but just figured we'd give everyone the heads up as early as possible. As always, spread the word please.

One final note... Based on comments from everyone, there will be new elements introduced this camp. So dont think it will be your usual sernior camp.... whats different you ask?? well you'll just have to come and see for yourself.... afterall... what good is a suprise if everyone knows :)

Salamualaikum one and all....

Our apologies for being out of touch for so long. It was not our intention tokeep quite but unforseen circumstances did arise. Never matter though because we are here to announce our next day trip. Now last time we had a trip for the biggies out there so this time, we arranged a trip for the little kiddies. If you look on the site you will see the new album for the trip to the Scienceworks. Please on our behalf, spread the word so we can get a full turnout inshaAllah. We are looking for children aged between 7-14 years old, so if you have a younger brother or sister, convince them to come, it should be a rather exciting day inshaAllah.

I'd love to sit and write more but unfortunatly, the clock is a ticking and there's plenty to get done prior to saturday. Hope to see you all there... well your siblings anyways.

Salamualaiukum one and all... In speaking with the youth community in melbourne, Futuwwah received many comments about their activities and the activities that were organized, but the one thing that topped all the comments was "The site has not been updated in a very VERY long time..." Sooo the Futuwwah committee sat down and said "you know what, they are right" So we decided to ACTUALLY do something about it!!! Thats what this post is about, to tell you, all of you, that by the grace and permission of Allah SWT, our creator, we are back in action, and to prove that were not just speaking hot air, we decided to organize a day trip to Philip Island on the 5th of January. Not long off I know, but we ourselves were a bit short on time with a few things. You will find on this spaces site the poster and the concent form for the day trip. All participants MUST complete the concent form and present it either on the day of the trip or before to one of the Futuwwah 08 committee members. There are 2 contact names on the poster, if you have any question, or if any parents have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact one of the mentioned persons. Well enough out of me, no point in sitting and talking, time to go do something in prep for the day trip. Hope to see you all there. Salamualaikum.

Protection Of Non-Muslims Places Of Worship

ISLAM establishes a relationship with the people of different faith on the basis of tolerance, justice, benevolence, and mercy. The basis of this relationship is Allah's saying in the Qur'an: "Allah does not forbid you to deal justly and kindly with those who fought not against you on account of religion nor drove you out of your homes. Verily, Allah loves those who deal with equity. It is only as regards those who fought against you on account of religion, and have driven you out of your homes, and helped to drive you out, that Allah forbids you to befriend them. And whosoever will befriend them, then such are the Zalimun (wrongdoers - those who disobey Allah)." (Al-Mumtahanah: 8- 9)

According to the Qur'an, Muslims are required to deal with all people kindly and justly as long as they do not oppose or oppress Muslims or place obstacles in the way of spreading Islam.

Of non-Muslims, Islam gives special consideration for the People of the Book, that is, Jews and Christians, whether they reside in a Muslim society or not.

Being a divine religion revealed to guide all mankind, Islam tackles all aspects of man's life, regardless of whether he believes in it or not. That is why we see it granting many rights and privileges to non-Muslim citizens of the Islamic state. Muslims are ordered to show full consideration to this injunction and give due respect to non-Muslims' places of worship, which are part and parcel of their property enjoying full protection in Islam.

Protection of property

The Islamic government is bound to protect the properties of non-Muslims. In his book Al-Kharaj, Abu Yusuf sheds light on the Prophet's contract with the people of Najran: "Najran and its neighboring area are in the security of Allah, the Almighty, and His Messenger. The property, religions and churches of the inhabitants, as well as properties, whether much or little, are under the protection of the Prophet."

Umar Ibn Al-Khattab, in his letter to Abu Ubaydah Ibn Al-Jarrah, may Allah be pleased with them both, wrote: "Prevent Muslims from wronging or causing harm to them (non-Muslims) or taking their property illegally."

Freedom of worship

This means the freedom to practice any religion or ideology and not to be forced to adopt a certain faith or compelled to convert to Islam. This is based on the verse:

"There is no compulsion in religion: Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path. Whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that wil never break. And Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower." (Al-Baqarah: 256)

Commenting on the verse, the famous exegete Ibn Katheer states: "Don't force anyone to embrace Islam as it is clear and self-evident in its proofs and realities and does not need to exert force to be accepted."

Islam protects the places of worship of non-Muslims, and allows them to observe their religious ceremonies.

In the reign of `Umar Ibn Al-Khattab, the religious freedom of the citizens of Ilya (Jerusalem) and the sanctity of their synagogues and places of worship were confirmed: "This is the protection which the slave-servant of Allah, `Umar, the Commander of the Believers, extends to the people of Ilya: The safeguarding of their lives, properties, churches, crosses, and of their entire community. Their churches cannot be occupied, demolished, or damaged, nor are their crosses or anything belonging to them to be touched. They will never be forced to abandon their religion, nor will they be oppressed. None of the Jews will live with them in Ilya." (At-Tabari, Tarikh, Vol III, p. 609, ed. Dar Al-Ma`arif, Egypt.)

Khalid Ibn Al-Waleed, in his covenant with the People of `Anat, wrote: "They are allowed to ring the bells at any time of the day or night, except in the time of the Islamic prayer times. They are allowed to bear their crosses in their festivals" (Abu Yusuf, Al-Kharaj, p. 146)

Muslims not only allowed non-Muslims to enjoy the freedom of their faith, but also let them follow their way even though some of their practices might conflict with the religion of the majority. Actually, this is the highest degree of tolerance. Muslims tolerated the religious practices of their minorities by not prohibiting even those practices which were contrary to the state ideology.

History bears witness to the fact that Muslims accepted and applied the Islamic laws to an extent that has no parallel in the history of mankind. The fair and tolerant approach they show to other faiths are no secret.

Asserting the tolerance of Muslims, Tritton says: "Muslim rulers frequently went beyond what was required of them in their relations with non-Muslims. The best example of this is the presence of churches and other (non-Muslim) places of worship in purely Arab (Muslim) cities. Government departments always had Christians and Jewish officials who were sometimes given very sensitive and influential posts. Some non-Muslims thus acquired great wealth. In addition, Muslims were accustomed to sharing with Christians their festivals." (Khartubali, Hasan Ali, Islam and Ahl Adh-Dhimmah, p. 256)

Every Breath Is A Precious Jewel

Life is nothing but an accumulation of many breaths. So every breath is just a precious diamond which cannot be purchased with anything in the world. It is a priceless jewel which has got no substitute in value. So in movements and talks, and in sorrows and happiness, such a priceless breath should not be spent in vain. To destroy it is to court destruction. An intelligent man cannot lose it.

When a man gets up at dawn, he should enter into an agreement with himself just as a tradesman contracts with his partner. At that time, he should address his mind thus: O mind, you have been given no other property as precious as life. When it will end, the principal will end and despondency will come in seeking profit in business.

Today is a new day. Allah has given you time, that is, He has delayed your death. He has bestowed upon you innumerable gifts. Think that you are already dead. So don't waste time.

Every breath is a precious jewel.

Man has got for each day and night twenty-four treasure houses in twenty-four hours. Fill up these then find them filled up with divine sights in the world next. If they are not filled up with good works, they will be filled up with intense darkness wherefrom a bad stench will come out and envelop them all around. Another treasure house will neither give him happiness nor sorrow. That is an hour in which he slept, or was careless, or was engaged in any lawful work of this world. He will feel grieved for it remaining vacant.
